The size our tools make for Shopify
2048 × 2048 px, background: as in your photo, product: as large as the margin allows. The image resizer and the AI white background tool use this preset, which follows the rules above.
The Shopify pages we could read do not state: main image background, minimum size, aspect ratio, product fill, colour, not on the main image, not on any image and other images. We leave these out rather than guess.
Other stated rules
- Use one aspect ratio for every product's featured image, so collection pages show them at the same size.
- PNG is the best file type for most product images, then JPEG.
- The Help Center allows up to 5000 x 5000 px or 25 megapixels; the developer docs say 4472 x 4472 px (20 MP).
- The 250 limit counts images, 3D models and videos together.
