Should I use PNG or WebP for product images?
For your own shop's pages, WebP: it keeps transparency and usually makes smaller files than PNG. For marketplaces, check the table: several accept PNG but not WebP.

Questions
Yes. WebP stores transparency, so a cut-out stays a cut-out.
The converter writes WebP at the quality you set with the Quality chip, and a lower quality drops some detail. Text and sharp edges show it first, so keep the quality high for logos and screenshots.
Safari cannot save WebP from a web page yet. The converter locks WebP there and says so; use Chrome, Edge or Firefox to make WebP files.
