The size our tools make for Instagram

1080 × 1080 px, background: white, product: as large as the margin allows. The image resizer and the AI white background tool use this preset, which follows the rules above.

The Instagram pages we could read do not state: maximum size, product fill, colour and not on the main image. We leave these out rather than guess.

Other stated rules

  • Shops on Facebook and Instagram show product images square (1:1); the main image shows the entire product.
  • JPEG is preferred over PNG.
  • Feed posts keep their resolution at widths of 320 to 1080 px and ratios between 1.91:1 and 3:4; upload at least 1080 px wide.

How it works

  1. Check your main image

Add it to the checker above: it tests each of Instagram's stated rules in your browser.

  2. Resize it to 1080 × 1080 px

The free resizer's Instagram preset sets the size and where the product sits.

  3. Fix the background

Put the product on pure white with the AI white background tool where Instagram asks for white.
