How do I resize an image without stretching it?
Keep the aspect ratio: change the width and let the height follow, or scale both sides by the same percent. The resizer keeps the ratio unless you untick it. Making a picture larger than it is adds no detail, so an enlarged picture looks soft.

Yes, up to 10000 px on a side. Enlarging adds no detail, so the picture looks softer, and the tool says so when you enlarge it.
Untick Keep aspect ratio and type both. If the new shape differs from the picture's, the picture is stretched to fit, and the tool tells you. For a marketplace's size that keeps the product's shape, use the product image resizer.
Your picture's own format, or JPG, PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency, so a transparent background turns white. Where the browser cannot save WebP, as in Safari, WebP is locked.
